The 19th China International Lubricants and Application Technology Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the "Lubricants Exhibition") will be held from November 7–9, 2018, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (No. 2345 Longyang Road).
At the beginning of 2018, the industry witnessed continuous price increases. Then, on June 15, the U.S.-China trade war reignited when the United States firmly announced its plan to impose a 25% tariff on approximately $50 billion worth of Chinese goods. The first list mainly included certain tires and rubber products, while the second list covered lubricants and additives, PE, PP, PIB, PS, SAN, ABS, PVC, POM, PMMA, PVA, PET, PTFE, fluoropolymer-containing products, and more.
In response, in the early hours of June 16, the Chinese government “fought back” by imposing equivalent tariffs on U.S. imports of similar value. The Tariff Commission of the State Council issued an announcement stating that a 25% additional tariff would be imposed on 659 categories of imported goods worth around $50 billion, originating from the United States.
Under these market conditions, it seems inevitable that the petrochemical industry will be fully drawn into the trade war in the second half of the year.
